The All-American redhead that defined a generation is back … and he’s darker, grittier, and more brooding than you’ve ever seen him.
Well, that’s not entirely true. The new CW show launched with much fanfare in January as a high school murder mystery drama, but located in everyone’s favorite fictional town. In other words, like a ton of other shows.
The biggest problem with Riverdale isn’t that they went too far with their reimagining, it’s that they didn’t go far enough. The show is more Scream (MTV’s remake) than Scream Queens, i.e., a tepid, uninspired exercise that adds little more than catty comebacks, hurt looks, and chiseled abs to an equation that was perfected well before any of its main stars were even born.
